High Five For Friday!

1// Highs fives all around for sweet Kallahan!  Obviously he is feeling much better and loving his spaghetti lunch!   Also we were referred to a great cardiologist in Amarillo for a echocardiogram on April 10th.  After talking to several people we have learned that even if he does have a left to right shunt it is an easy surgery repair.  Our worry meter has gone way down.  Thanks again for all the continued prayers.  #letgoandletGod
2// I love our new Easter tree.  Jacey made this last weekend...super cute!
3// Keeler is out of preschool for springbreak this week so Granny (his sitter) has been keeping the boys busy with some extra special treats and outings.  They've made frequent visits to the Goody Shop for snow-cones and Keeler has had a couple play dates with his school friends.  She is so sweet to have extra kids over :)
4// Starburst Jellybeans!!  These delicious little dudes are not so good for the ol' diet plan.
5// And lastly high five for moisture in our weekend forecast.  Keeping our fingers crossed - this drought stricken land needs it!

Weekend Whoas

I don't even know where to begin?  Last Friday feels like light-years away.
The weekend started out great.  The weather was amazing.  When I got off work it was close to 80 degrees, the sun was shining and we had very little wind.  It was the perfect day!
My parents and my sister's family arrived in the afternoon.  They had been on spring break and a trip to Kansas was their grand finale.  The guys raced to the golf course while us girls and the little kids played outside and made dinner.
After dinner, Jacey put the little ones to bed with a bedtime story.  I still can't get over that she is old enough to read so well!  After the little ones were finally asleep we stayed up later than normal and watched a movie with my oldest nephew Jakob.
On Saturday my sister and I got up early to run the local Shamrock 5K.
We had a great time.  Samantha has been doing the 'couch to 5K program.'  This was her first time to attempt to run without incorporating walking.  I might have pushed her too much but she did amazing!  We finished at 32:17.  She has a color run this weekend and I know she'll do great.
In the afternoon we went shopping around town and then went bowling.
Bowling is something that we never do but we had a fun time.  Kallahan might of had the most fun once aunt Samantha showed him how to bowl!
We love our grandma Kak!

That evening we made a special St. Patty's day meal.  We had our neighbor's famous ribs, green macaroni and cheese, green salad and green rice crispy treats.  The kids loved it!

Saturday evening we noticed that Kallahan was back coughing so Tyler gave him a breathing treatment right after dinner.  He went to bed around 8pm but around 10:30pm he woke up crying.  We decided to let him "cry it out" hoping he would fall back asleep.  However, when Tyler went into his room about 10 minutes later he quickly realized he was having trouble breathing and sounded terrible.  We tried another breathing treatment but we were still very concerned and decided to go ahead and take him to the ER since he didn't seem any better.  After he was evaluated, X-rayed, poked and prodded the ER doctor decided to admit him since his oxygen level was so low.  They thought he might of had an asthma attack or an allergic reaction to his antibiotics he was taking for his bronchitis.
After some medication to open up his lungs his oxygen thankfully went from the 70s to the 90s.  He slept well through the night.  I sent Tyler home once Kal was asleep (around 2am) and tried to rest myself.  My heart goes out to anyone with hospitalized kids.  It was such a long and worrisome night.
We were all exhausted the next day.  It was nice that my family was still in town to help with Keeler. Kallahan HATED being cooped up in his hospital room.  He was placed on a liquid diet so on-top of everything else he we was hungry and very cranky.  However, he was feeling better, his fever was down and his oxygen was holding stable in the mid 90s.  Once we finally got the word that he was going to be discharged around 1pm, we let him roam in the hall.  He was so happy!  He ran to the furthest corner of the hospital hall and hid under this chair.
I don't know what this silly guy was thinking (if I hide they cannot take me back to THAT room!).  We were all so relieved to go home and very thankful that he was feeling better.  Thank you to all our family & friends for the prayers and support :)
--------------------------
Yesterday we had a follow-up with Kal's regular doctor.  He said that he thinks Kal has the croup by the sound of his cough and cry.  He agreed with the medication and treatment from the hospital so we'll continue on that path.
However, when we got home I got a call that his doctor had noticed something in the ER X-ray after we left.  He noticed that his right heart boundaries appear larger than his left which could indicate a left to right shunt.  He has been referred for an Echocardiogram.  So now we have an appointment in Wichita at the Kansas Kids Heart Center in mid April.
We are trying hard to not get worked up as we really don't know what any of this means.  It really might not be anything.  His regular doctor has gone out of town now and researching online just confuses me.  I debated about sharing this but I just ask that you keep our precious little cowboy in your prayers.
It was amazing how quickly things turned and made us realize more than ever how blessed we are.
Also, please pray for my cousin's little one, Brynlee, as she has been having unexplained seizures.  She is scheduled for a sleep deprived EEG on Friday and then will go to Cook's Children's in Fort Worth.  We hope and pray that nothing is serious.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

I'm linking up with Jamie today for What I'm Loving Wednesday!
So far this week is going much better and we are so thankful that the little cowboys are finally feeling better.
Thanks for all the prayers!
I'm loving this precious patchwork pullover.
I tried to find this in-store a couple weeks ago but was told it was only online.  So today when I got a special 30% off email plus an extra $10 off I had no other choice than to buy it for Keeler!  Yes, that's how I'll explain it to my husband too.  Won't he look so cool strolling into kindergarten in this?!  Kindergarten, did I just say that?!
Tonight is parent/teacher conferences at Keeler's preschool.  I remember last year that the end of the school year seemed to fly by after conferences.  It just makes me realize how close he is to being a kindergartner in public school.
{not loving that!}

My Current Pinterest Love:
Follow me on Pinterest here.
I'm loving this area rug!  I even found a rug like this on Zuily this week but I just can't buy it.  I don't know if it's weird but I think I'll have to actually touch and examine a rug before I can commit.  I also want a new couch before I commit to a rug which we say will happen when the boys go to college so who knows if I'll still like this rug in 2029.

I absolutely loved this movie!  On Monday night my Junior Civic club had a ladies night out and went to the movies.  Most of the girls had read the book but I hadn't.  Either way, this was the best movie.  Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel are both so beautiful... I could watch them both for days!  I left the theater with mascara running down my face and popcorn butter on my shirt. Now that's a good night! :)

I hate to post a "selfie" but I'm loving my 3rd day hair!  That's right, don't judge.  I'm also feeling pretty good because I'm finally back working out.  Tyler has even started joining me.  I have always envied couples that workout together and it really has been fun.  I hope we can keep it up.

Of course I'm loving all my cowboys but my littlest cowboy wanted to share what
he's loving - his Granny's chocolate cake!

Last but not least, I'm loving that my parents and my sister's family are coming up to see us this weekend.
We plan on having a fun St. Patty's day together.

Weekend Whoas

Even though we were home with little sickies this weekend we tried to make the best of it.  We put out our Easter decorations.  After I got it all out Keeler said, "it doesn't look very Easterly."  I am guessing he is comparing the decorations to our Christmas decorations.   Who goes all out for Easter?  But his comment made me realize that my decorations were a bit inferior.  So guess what this mommy did?  I went to the local dollar store and bought even more plastic eggs and cheap spring florals.  Then we made the above banner out of some scrapbook paper I had. Keeler strung the entire banner by himself...I was very impressed.
Tyler has been a cooking machine lately.  He made chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes on Friday night.  Yes, he is totally helping with my get fit by 30 goal!
Keeler loves to help cook while Kal loves to taste test!
Little cowboy approved!
{Take note, my kids are always on the kitchen counter!}
We also had a lot of playtime.
Kallahan played with play-dough for the first time.  He loved it!  Keeler and I always pretend to make food and then offer fake tastes.  Kal caught right on and kept giving mommy tastes.  Surprisingly, he didn't ever try to eat the dough himself.
Both the boys worked on their computers and obviously destroyed their playroom.
Our only outing was to the local library.  I thought it would be a good idea to pick up some books and a movie since we would be cooped up all weekend.  To our surprise our library has added in some fun play centers.  Luckily we were the only ones there so I didn't have to worry about them getting anyone sick and they really enjoyed it.  We will definitely be returning soon.
Keeler recently picked out a couple board games with his Valentine money from Mimi and Jimdad.  We had fun playing with him but isn't it amazing to see how much games have changed since we were kids?  Operation is now sound activated and the cards are obsolete.

While we were playing games I decided to make some chocolate chip cookies.  I made these for the first time last weekend and I then thought about them all week.  I found the recipe on pinterest and trust me they are to die for!  I tweaked the recipe a bit since we prefer milk chocolate and used the Heartsmart Bisquick® which makes them only 69 calories a cookie.  And also a plus, cookie dough calories don't count in my book! :)
As everyone knows, I am the last one you'd expect to see sharing a recipe so first things first, we know these are super easy and foolproof!

Heartsmart Bisquick® Chocolate Chip Cookies

1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 egg
2 3/4 cups Heartsmart Bisquick® mix
1 cup milk chocolate chips (6 oz)

Heat oven to 375°F. In large bowl, mix butter, sugar, vanilla and egg. Stir in Bisquick mix, chocolate chips and nuts. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonful’s onto ungreased cookie sheet, about 2 inches apart; flatten slightly. Bake 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from cookie sheet to cooling rack.

Now eat them for breakfast, lunch, snack time and for dinner!

Sickness

Sorry for being MIA the past week.  I am just glad to have that one behind us.  I'll give you a quick rundown and I apologize in advance for rambling.
Keeler started back coughing and running fever on the first.  After I took him to the doctor late in the afternoon that Friday we went home and then proceeded to lay low.  Of course convincing a four-year-old to rest is easier said than done.  Aside from a few gator rides we stayed inside all weekend trying to ignore the fact that the weather was gorgeous out.
On Monday night we noticed that this sweet guy was back coughing and running fever...
They say it takes a village to raise a child and on Tuesday that  rang true.  I was so thankful to have both Tyler and Granny because I had a big customer event at work that I couldn't miss which required a lot of prep and energy.
Tyler was a saint and stayed up most the night with Kal and then took both the boys back to the doctor.  They ended up on different antibiotics plus breathing treatments since their oxygen levels were low.
Keeler was able to return to school late in the week but over the weekend we tried to conitnue to rest so these precious boys will get well.
I saw a pin about marking doses directly on the medication.  I had to share because this has been so helpful since my brain is pretty much fried from lack of sleep and having 1,468 things running through my head all at the same time.
Here's to a healthy week!

High Five for Friday

Linking up with Lauren for High Five for Friday!
1// Despite missing out on all the snow that seemed to hit everyone around us, we have enjoyed a little time outside.  It's still terribly cold but a little Vit. D has been nice.  I had to snap this picture when Tyler came into the house and tells me, "Keeler's on the roof!"  #mommypanic
2// Tyler booked my birthday trip!!!  New Orleans here we come!!!
I'm also going on a shopping trip with my mom, sis, aunt and cousins on my actual birthday.
This girl is not dreading turning 30 at all! :)
3// I'm almost done with our spring newsletter at work.  This deserves a high 10 folks!
4// Our littliest cowboy insisted on wearing boots with his jammies one night this week.  #cutestthingever
Don't worry I was able to sneak them off before he fell asleep.
5// Speaking of boots, when I'm picking up the house after the little cowboys go to sleep at night I always have to smile when I see these little boots by the door.  I just love being their mommy.
