Weekend Whoas!

We had a fabulous weekend and a great week!
On Thursday night when I got home from work I cleaned up the yard and started mowing.  Tyler got home right at the tail end and finished up the front while I gathered more tumble weeds.  I love this picture of the two of them.  I know my mom has a picture of my dad and I mowing just like this - I need to find it.  I've always enjoyed mowing.  Call me crazy but I think  it's almost therapeutic.
The little cowboy were perfect while we worked in the yard.  They had been out all day with their Granny while she trimmed trees.  I hated to keep them out more once we got home but they LOVE outdoors and nasty weather was in the forecast for the weekend so I seized the opportunity.
They cleaned their Gator while I mowed and then just sat on the front steps and watched.  They were so good I took them to the store to pick a treat once I was done with the front.  I'm sure I looked like a hot mess with grass all over me but they deserved it!

Friday night I helped host a GLOW RUN with my Ladies of Jr. Civic Club.  We had so much fun!
Our President, Sabra, and I set out on a mission to make our club more fun this year and I think we're doing a great job!  We have such a wonderful group of ladies and an awesome community that supported our race.
We ended up raising more money for scholarships this year from past years so we're calling that a HUGE success.  After the race, most of us met back at our house and had a celebratory margarita.  It was so much fun getting to know some of our new members better.

Saturday and Sunday we kept it very low key.  The little cowboys stayed with me all day on Saturday.  We tried to go to the library but discovered that they've started closing on the weekends.  Keeler was very disappointed.  Luckily I had a wooden model airplane hidden away so we went home and did some painting and building.
They both did so well.
Kallahan really surprised me.  He painted for over a solid hour.  He was so focused.  He told me he was painting a brown cow at one time and did really well identifying his colors along the way.
In the evening we rented a couple movies and had a family movie night.  We watched Despicable Me 2 and after the little cowboys went to bed I watched Dallas Buyers Club.  I really didn't know much about the movie/storyline but knew it had won numerous awards plus Jered Leto was my teen crush.  It was very powerful - I would highly recommend.
Sunday the little cowboys went with Tyler 'to help' on the farm.  I did a few chores but ended up staying in my pajamas all day, it was glorious!
Our weather has been horrific, with 50mph+ winds and A LOT of blowing dirt.  They honestly called school today in a neighboring town due to wind.  We've all heard of "snow days" but seriously, a "wind day?!"  Honestly, better safe than sorry.  With so much blowing dirt, poor visibility becomes a huge issue.
There have been some terrible vehicle crashes in our area.
We're all praying for rain and waaaay less wind.

Our Easter in Pictures

Our Easter weekend was wonderful...filled will lots of family time, great food, playing outdoors, worship, and TONS of laughs.  We had some of my husband’s family in town.  We loved getting to spend a holiday at home.  It made it pretty relaxing and the little cowboys love having their cousins around.

We kicked off Good Friday with a trip to the donut shop.  Everyone needed a bunny donut!
Later in the afternoon we took Tiffany, Russell and the kiddos to the zoo.  We had a lot of fun riding the bike, the train and then to top it off Tiffany bought all the boys a build-a-bear (zoo animal) for their early Easter gift.  We ended the evening with a nice dinner out.  Us girls and Brody went shopping and the big boys went bowling.  We packed a lot of fun in one day!

On Saturday we all went to the courthouse for our town's annual Easter egg hunt.  I can't get over this cute picture of Bryon and Brody with the bunny.
Here we are patiently waiting for the egg hunt to begin...
We LOVE our little boys.  Too bad they had zero interest in taking pictures.
Checking out the goods!

Then it was back home to dye our Easter eggs.

// Easter Morning //

Of course the little cowboys woke up early and opened their baskets before our company was awake.  I was more concerned about them staying quiet and failed in taking their pictures but I did get this sweet picture of Bryon and Brody going through their goodies.
Both the older boys received the Frozen soundtrack so they serenaded us while we got ready for church and ate breakfast ;)
 Egg Hunt Time!
My little cowboys #lovethem
 Cousins are the best!
"Mom, I can't hunt fast enough with this cowboy hat on!"
Keeler was so excited to get our prize egg, worth a whooping $1.25!
After a delicious Easter meal at Granny's we all went out and flew kites.
We were blessed with the best weather on Easter Sunday.  It was the best kind of holiday and we made some special memories.
From ours to yours, Happy Easter!!

Kallahan is 2.5 years old!

BOY oh BOY!
I mean seriously, look at that face!
...mischief is just radiating from those baby blues I love so much!!

Our baby boy is officially not a baby.  Over the past couple of months he has really decided to take on this "big boy" role.  He's potty trained, sleeping in his own bed like a champ and trying his darndest to keep up with big brother.  He's such a thoughtful little guy.  He does stand up for himself when he needs to and has a bit of temper when life isn't going his way.

Wearing mostly wearing 2T.  He can still wear some 18-24mth pants and shorts
Size 6 shoe
About 27 lbs - he's a runt but look at that big belly!
Loves:  Being outside, riding his Gator, pushing his lawn mower, helping Daddy, peeing outdoors (yikes!), trucks/tractors, Koolaid, any type of meat and any candy (he's got his mommy's sweet tooth), Paw Patrol and Sheriff Callie.

Dislikes:  washing his hair, having someone in the bathroom when he goes #2 - we get a harsh "LEAVE!"

Most Used Phrases:  "Play, play"  // "Klaid" for (Kool-aid) // "Hold, Hold"
He's talking more and more everyday.
Sometimes I think my heart is going to explode because I have so much love for all my cowboys, big and small.  That will never change.  Kallahan has brought unspeakable joy to our lives, made our little family complete and is definitely teaching me more than I think I am able to teach him.  We're so thankful for this gift God has given us!

Easter Details

Happy Easter Week!  I'm sharing our Easter decorations and the little cowboy's Easter baskets today so come on in...
I primarily decorated our main living spaces. For the first time in years we'll be home for the holiday and have family visiting so I wanted to add to my old decor just a little to make things more festive.
I found the spring bunting on Now Yours and worked around that.  If you haven't checked this daily deals site out - you must!  Last year I had the idea to fill my tall glass vases with plastic eggs.  I did the same thing this year but spruced them up with new spring florals and burlap ribbon.
I added a little spring decor to our end tables too.  I got our Easter tree a couple years ago at Target.  The little cowboys enjoyed putting the ornaments on. Similar tree here.
I also added plastic eggs and a little grass to our apothecary jars.  The boys made these cute coasters from a little store bought felt kit.
In the dining area I hung eggs off the light fixture (thanks for the idea sis), changed the centerpiece to tulips with a little burlap ribbon.  Thank you Pottery Barn for this idea.  I'm obsessed with anything burlap!

The little cowboys also made these little Easter place-mats.  Keeler realized I pretty much did Kallahan's for him and told me I should have put "Kelley" on it.  ;)

Now linking up with Darcy from The Good Life blog
and Sarah from Our Journey blog
We actually have "Easter buckets" over here.
The boys turned their buckets into sandbox toys last year so I picked up these new ones a few weeks ago at Target.  I like using the buckets because they do end up having multiple purposes and they're nice and deep for a lot of egg hunting.  I then added a chalkboard label to the front of them to personalize.
I worked out of town last week so I made a Walmart run (alone - hallelujah!) and finished up their baskets, assembled and hid them before I picked up the boys.  It's nice to have that off the list.

In our house the Easter basket is from us and not the Easter bunny.  The Easter bunny strictly drops off the eggs in the yard.  I decided this last year because we wanted a little credit.  It always make me sad when Keeler talks about the great gifts Santa and Grandma Kak give at Christmas.  I wasn't going to be showed up by a bunny too ;)
Right before I went shopping last week, the boys had a dentist appointment and our hygienist suggested a Sonicare kid's toothbrush for Keeler since he was unfortunately blessed with a genetic tarter problem.  They aren't cheap and I knew if Keeler had one then Kal would think he needed one.  However, it was definitely something I think will be great for them both so that was my first item in the bucket with a couple extra brush heads.  That was the one practical item that will off-set the candy, right? ;)
They also got an Easter edition of each of their favorite books: Keeler loves Little Critters and Kal is all about the Biscuit books.  They'll each receive a kite, some sidewalk chalk ($1 box from Walmart with another cute chalkboard label), bubble wands, 3 bags of candy (of course) and a silly little monkey toy.
I can't wait to get this Easter weekend started!  Wishing you the best...
