Friday Favorites

Happy February, folks! I'm linking up with ErikaNarci and Andrea to share my Friday Favorites.
{one} Happy Birthday to my favorite lady on the planet, my mom.
I'm so glad that we celebrated her this past weekend by throwing a friend/family party. Y'all, my mom really is the best. She's selfless, kindhearted and our families' rock. I strive daily to be a mom like her. She's "Grandma Kak" to so many kids beyond her own because that  she has beams. We love you BIG!! Happiest birthday to the BEST!

{two} While we were in Texas we got to celebrate another one of our favorite birthdays.
Happy {belated} birthday to our fav 'lil Samuel, aka Scott Hamilton!! Everyone had a blast ice skating with him. Who knew we had so many athletes in the fam bam?

{three} Keeler's favorite day of school this year was last Friday.Dress like a cowboy to celebrate Kansas Day.
How handsome is he?! He's been looking forward to this for week, Yee-haw ;)

{four} Since after the holidays, we've been focusing more on health and fitness (like every other American this time of year) and since we've been going strong for about a month I have some new favorites:
My friend, Katie and I have been doing Piyo for a month now. At first, I wasn't impressed and so confused. I'm usually a high intensity cardio girl. But once we got through the instructional workout and we kind of know what we're doing I LOVE it. It's working muscles that have never been sore and since it's not so intense I find getting up early easier. I'm actually looking forward to working out. This is new for me and so much easier on my body than running.

Protein, Protein, Protein
This Egg White Protein Powder is my new go-to afternoon snack. It's been a learning process but basically my body responds best with more protein. After the holidays I always have those 10 pesky pounds to lose. I tried doing Weigh Watchers with my mom, sis and some friends in January but I wasn't losing. I was basically maintaining and even gained a little. I'm still tracking (love that about weight watchers) but I started doing some research on macro tracking and so far, I like how I am feeling. It's really to soon to see any results but I'm going to keep it up. I'm using MyFitnessPal to track.
We've also formed a little supportive messaging group with the ladies I mentioned early and it's been so great! We share meal ideas, fitness, weekly weigh-ins and ask questions. It's been awesome, keeping me accountable and very motivating.

{five} And this is my favorite picture I snapped this week...

Friday Favorites

January 2017 is coming to an end - how'd that happen so fast?!  I have all the intentions of being a better blogger this year but obviously that isn't going so well.
Happy Friday regardless - I'm linking up with ErikaNarci and Andrea to share my Friday Favorites. It's always a great way to share what we've been up to:

{one} My bestie, Rachel, had her baby and OMGosh, he's the sweetest!
Spending time with Baby Ian is a new favorite!

We're so happy for the Spencer clan. Thanks for letting us love on him. My little cowboys will have tons of stuff to teach this little guy. I can't wait to watch him grow.

Last Friday, before our ice storm hit, we went over to Rachel's with Katie and Logan to take out pizza. I snapped this photo of new big sister, Becca with Keeler. I put it on my Instagram with the caption: "Oh Becca, Kee really has BIG HUG feelings for you too. He's just too cool to show it" ;)

{two} I'm been busy creating - always a favorite. Junior Civic hosted a little "Sip and See" for Rachel so I made these printables for Ian's nursery. They turned out so cute! I hope she loves them.
I've also designed a couple of t-shirts for friends/family this week. Instead of hosting a 5K as our Junior Civic fundraiser this year, we're in the beginning stage of hosting a t-shirt sale. I'm pretty excited for this idea. We're hoping this goes over well - fingers crossed!

{three} MLK/Ice Storm Weekend
Last weekend we were hit with an ice storm. The timing was perfect since the boys were out on Monday and I was off on Monday. So we just hibernated in the house. We had a fire going constantly, watched several movies and just enjoyed the family time.
The boy's favorite movie we watched was the Disney Classic, Old Yeller. They LOVED it! Fellow farm mama's - make sure you have your kids watch this one. The rest of the weekend they were working hard on their chores by keeping the fire going, feeding the pets and um, steering clear of wild hogs 😂. Thanks for keeping mama warm boys!!
They played Old Yeller for hours and made such a MESS. However, even more than the mess were the MEMORIES that were made. I ❤️ this stage of life. I pray they're friends for life.

{four} Recent school favorites:

Yippee Ki-Yay for Keeler's recent Boot Hill Field Trip! This cowboy loved it! To decorate their locker's beforehand they were to design a boot. Keeler and I had so much fun researching boots, coming up with his design and working on it together. We're so happy that Keeler has found more confidence this year in school. He's making 100% on his weekly spelling tests {his teacher is going to start giving him his own harder list of words} and just this week he was excited to report that he was the only one in his class to get 100% on a recent math quiz. Great job!

Last night we had Kallahan's parent/teacher conference. His teacher really loves him (who wouldn't tho?!). She complimented his neat coloring, his social skills, common sense behavior and HUGE speech improvements. We'll need to keep working on letter/number recognition but she thinks he right on track for Kindergarten. My baby is headed to Kindergarten in just months, yall!
I think what I'll miss the most when he's off to Kindergarten is our little lunch dates. I've been eating lunch with my boys for over eight years. Next year is going to be hard. So time, do us a favor and slow down a little.

{five}  S N O W
We've been blessed recently with moisture!
All of our cattle are doing well and the boys have had a blast playing in it. Sledding is their favorite!

The night of sledding, Keeler said the best part of this day was sledding, but not just sledding - being with my family. This momma's heart, y'all ❤️

Tyler helped the little cowboys build a snowman after this weekend's ice/snow storm. It was the perfect snow for building. Tyler's creativity with spray paint was great but since it's melted it looks like something died in our front yard. Oh dear!

Life Lately

Ho Ho Ho! Just a quick post to share what we've been up to.
We had a great time at the town's annual Christmas Light Parade. We didn't go all out on a float this year because our main Christmas Guru, Adam, wasn't feeling well and was about to have back surgery. We still looked festive and BRIGHT!
Kallahan's been wearing my favorite Christmas shirt. Looking through pictures from last Christmas he had it on very often in December and I think we're repeating a trend. Hey, if the shirt fits!
Oh, and these red rubber boots are his new favorite too.
Granny babysat the boys while we were at my work Christmas party. The kitties seem to love her just as much as we do.
Keeler's been working hard on his horse habitat.
He was pretty proud to take it to school.
Cozy nights on the couch reading Christmas books is the best!
Grandma Kak surprised us on Wednesday by coming to town. She came for Keeler's music program. We all LOVED having her visit. Kallahan especially enjoyed spending time with her at the house - just relaxing and getting some special one-on-one attention. These two have a special bond.
Then it was time to watch our star! My boys are beyond blessed in the grandparent department.
Keeler did great at the program. They had several really cute songs.
And lastly, both the little cowboys are back on the radio for American Implement's Holiday Greetings. I know I'll want to listen back at these someday so I have to post.
Have a happy Saturday!

Friday Favorites - HOwie Returns

Our first few days in December have been very *merry*!
I'm linking up with ErikaNarci and Andrea to share my Friday Favorites.
November 30th the little cowboys got to open one present. Of course this is a favorite!
They were thrilled to discover their Schleich Farm Advent Calendars
Let the countdown begin!
December 1st, our Elf on the Shelf, HOwie, made his return from the North Pole.
He surprised the little cowboys with their favorite North Pole breakfast.
He brought along each boy a special letter {specifically stating what they've asked Santa for and how to behave in order to receive}, an ornament and a special personalized plate.
These two were so excited for HOwie's return.
Somehow his donuts are soooo much better and his milk had sprinkles, y'all!
Kallahan admiring his new ornament.
Those faces will always be my favoriteI keep thinking this might be our last year in this season of life so I'm soaking it all in!!
HOwie's kept us on our toes since his return. So far, his favorite surprise was Saturday morning when he was positioned at the top of this adorable tee-pee. Keeler just knew it came from the North Pole because the lights were in the shapes of snowflakes ;)
