Week 1 - By 30!

Week 1 of my "Best Shape by 30" goal went great!
If you missed my recent post about my desire to be in my best shape by 30, you can read it here
Since I've been home since Wednesday with sickies it was difficult to keep out of snacks but working out seemed easier.  When I wanted to snack I typically opted for a cup of hot green tea.  I knew this would help boost my immunities against the nasty flu but also curb my appetite.  It worked wonders and now I am officially OBSESSED.  I was able to stay under my calorie goal everyday but Saturday.  Tyler was feeling much better and wanted stew and pineapple upside down cake...I guess I did too. :)

My goal is not necessarily to run daily but at least five days a week.  This week I was able to get in a few miles everyday - mostly treadmill miles.  Once Tyler was feeling well enough to come out of the bedroom I was able to sneak away for a few outdoor runs.  The weather has been awesome, 50-70 degrees and very little wind.  I felt terrible that the kids weren't able to go out and play but I took advantage of it.  This afternoon I texted my girlfriend, Kady, that did a half in November to see if she would go on my long run with me.  She said she hadn't ran outdoors in months but happily agreed to go.  She did awesome.  It was nice chatting and catching up.  It made the six miles tolerable and actually fun.  She said she would love to start doing long runs with me over the weekends.  This will help a lot.
Now onto week 2!

Keeler 4.5

Realized that my oldest little cowboy just reached the big four point five.  Soon he'll be five-years-old and off the kindergarten... Seriously, where is the time going?!
This is the first little face I see every morning.  He creeps next to my side of the bed and asks for breakfast.  He lends his hand to help pull me out of bed.  After taking a deep breath and thanking God for a new day - we start our day together.
 I am blessed.
{4.5 is all about}
playing fireman in your new Gator
wanting someone to play with all the time
chocolate milk
pushing the limits
watching "my shows" - everything on Nick Jr., Caillou and "Damiel Tiger"
playing with cows and building fence
constantly on the go
Keeler tells me he loves me dozens of times throughout the day.  If he is not telling me he loves me then he is asking if I love him.  I try to come up with silly ways to tell him that I do.  I tell him, "I love you more than...cupcakes, to the moon and back, etc..."  And his favorite line back to me:  "I love you fourteen!"  Better than thirteen so I'll take it kid!
Honestly, he'll never know how much I love's immeasurable.

Flu Not Welcome Here!

Just a quick update on my sickies.  Tyler went to the doctor yesterday and he tested positive for influenza. :(  We were pretty sure that was what Keeler had as well but his doctor was out of swabs.  So as my boys continue to rest, cough and complain I continue to Lysol everything, wash my hands like a crazy person and try to maintain my sanity.  I'm not going to lie - I lost it a couple of times yesterday.  Most of all my heart aches for them and I hate that they feel so badly.  This flu is no joke people!
As a working mom our nighttime routine flies by and you just don't realize how loooong a day can be or how hard it is to keep your kid from climbing in the washing joke.  The past couple of days I have counted down the hours until bedtime.  Am I terrible?
Last night was actually pretty nice.  After a treadmill run, (I am determined I'm going to sweat out any flu exposure) instead of sleeping upstairs with all the sickies I decided it would be best to sleep down in our guest room.  After going on two nights and about 6 hours sleep I needed this "little vacation."  However, I was awaken by a little boy coughing in the night,  Yes, Kallahan is now sick.  I guess is was inevitable.  I went ahead and called the doctor and was able to get him some medication.
With medication the little cowboys are able to function and play but their daddy is still not with the living.  We all got the flu shot this year but Tyler's doctor said several are still getting it.  Praying for a speedy recovery.
Granny came over this morning so that I could get some work done.  She is wonderful.  Now I feel like I can breath again after getting a few things off my to-do list and get back to caring for my sickies - Lysol in hand.
Sorry for the lame post but linking up for:
I promise, we are typically a lot more lively!

Only Thursday?

Happy Thursday folks.
This week is going down in history as one of the loooongest ever.
The week started nice.
We all felt well.
The weather was nice.
But then the sickies invaded us again.  This time it's Keeler.
I hate it when the kids are sick.  I just wish I could make it all go away.  He's been coughing something terrible and running a fever.  We were up all night Tuesday.  I took him to the doctor yesterday.  He got some meds and the doctor wanted to swab him for influenza but they are out of tests.  They claimed it's a nationwide shortage.  #scaryfolks
We're taking all precautions and keeping him home.
Thankfully Granny was able to keep my little cowboy during the day so Keeler could rest.  I've been working from home and actually got a lot accomplished.  It's amazing the interruptions that occur in an office.  I even managed to do all the laundry and cook dinner.  #supermom
When Tyler got home is was obvious he'd also been struck too.  Oh no!!  After a hot bath, medications and layering his clothes he went straight to bed. #LysolEverything
Keeler had slept most the afternoon but this mommy nurse needed a stress reliever so onto the treadmill I went.
Keeler watched TV in the basement while I ran and then joined me once it was stretching/ weights time.  After a warm bath he actually asked to go to bed.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that myself and especially this little guy can stay well.

by 30!

The big 3-0 is knocking at my door.  That's right my 30th birthday is only 65 days away.
65 days away people!
I have told several people over the past year that I want to be in the best shape in my life by 30.  I've done pretty well with keeping track of calories using and training for a half but I've got to be honest - most days I am over my calorie goal and have not eaten as well as I should.
Today was a wake-up call for me.  When I logged in today, I got a notification, "you've logged in for 100 days in a row!"  My "friends" were praising me but I didn't feel proud.  Yes I've logged in for 100 days, but no I have not done well for 100 days.  I would really hate to go back and count how many of those days I have not made my goals.

Well something has to change if I want to be in my "best shape by 30!"
Since I am a major a visual person I made this chart to put on my fridge.

After seeing it all laid out I know I have time.  I think I'll do a weekly post on my progress.  This will just help keep me accountable so feel free to ignore.
Do you have a wellness goal you want to set?  What helps you?  I'd be happy to make you a goal chart if you think it'd help.
The third decade of my life is going to rock...starting with my healthy lifestyle!
{P.S I also bought this yesterday}
Yay for MLK super sales!!
The thought of swimsuit weather and the hopes of a sunny birthday trip are also good for accountability. :)

Mustache LOVE

I know, I'm a bit early but I'm so excited I have to share with y'all!
Below is the valentine card I made for Keeler to give his classmates this year.
Coming up with a "cool" valentine for a boy was not easy but oh so fun!!
Yes, he'll probably want to kill me someday but for now he thinks I'm pretty cool.  He loves to watch and help me edit photos.  He dies laughing when we do silly edits to put make-up and princess crowns on daddy!
He took his guitar to school last week for show-and-tell and all his friends were very impressed.  I think they'll get a kick out of his card.  Now to decide what special treat to attach :)

Happy Birthday Samuel!

I was doing so good with my goals.  I was staying right on track with my half marathon training, eating better and staying under my calorie goal, blogging more regularly and keeping up with chores and then it happened...I got sick.  No I don't have the flu...thankfully.  {I feel so sorry for all those that do because it sounds terrible!!}  I have a sinus infection.  It's inevitable and seems to happen at least once a year but I hate it!  The past couple of mornings I have woke up feeling like my head is going to EXPLODE.  This morning when I woke up my teeth even hurt.  So I managed to make an appointment and get some antibiotics.
I decided to work from home this afternoon.  But as soon as I walked in the door, I crashed.  My doctor said I needed to rest but I didn't know how much I really NEEDED to.  Well I obviously did.  Hopefully I'm back 100% very soon because I have a busy schedule ahead full of meetings, local pageant festivities and of course I need to get back to running!
Now onto where I wanted to go with this post, Happy Birthday Sweet Samuel!!
My nephew turned 5 on Monday.
Over the weekend we went to Texas to celebrate.
I can't believe that our little "butter-bean" is already 5.  He is such a silly little guy and always has a smile for us.  He is very independent and creative.  I love to watch him do any craft/art project because his concentration and abilities amaze me.
It's funny because we ended up with several little boys around the same age between mine and my sister's in-laws.  His party was so much fun with all these little boys running around.  They We have such fun times ahead! :)
The party was a dinosaur theme.  My sister and niece, Jacey, did a great job of decorating.  Look at the "dino punch" and "dino claws" - too much!!
{Bonus points for finding my dad in the pictures above - ha!}
My sister and her husband are great party hosts.  Their new home is perfect for entertaining too.  I am so happy for them!  Aside from how he looks in this picture, Jarret really does like to PARTY!!

Linking up with Kate & Kuby again for INSTAthursday.  Actually on Thursday this time! :)
My apologies in advance for these pictures being a little second child biased.  Keeler was sick yesterday so I went home with him at noon.  He slept most the afternoon while I tried to keep my little monkey cowboy quiet and keep up with emails.
Lunch with sick kiddo and his brother, aka: "crazy"
Menu:  Sprite, chicken noodle soup and crackers.
Thankfully he is feeling much better today!
Quiet time.
This is one smart baby.  Look at him concentrating.
I find it funny that older brother still gets anxiety when not drinking from a sippy cup while this little guy insisted on drinking from a can yesterday.  He also REFUSED any help!
I was thankful this week that my cousin Megan pinned a lot of new styles this past weekend.  She inspired me to try a few new looks with items I already had in my closet!
Added this outfit just for you Laura!
Sorry kid but I think you need more than just a vacuum.
#messykids #drivemecrazy
But I sure do love 'em!

If the cowboy hat fits...wear it!

Happy Wednesday everyone!
Our littlest cowboy will now wear a cowboy hat for almost 3 seconds.  Just long enough to snap a picture but you've gotta be quick!  It is darling how proud he gets when you place it on his head.  He wants to do everything like big brother.
I love to watch them :)
The little cowboys are starting to play together a little more each day since Kallahan is getting bigger.
{I love that they have each other. I love having a sister more than anything so my wish is they always have a wonderful relationship and cherish one another.}
This past weekend Keeler was full of ideas.  We turned his bed into an airplane.  He went bronco riding on his daddy...don't ask me but Tyler is great with them!
And then it was time to play in the snow...
After a lot of hard work they called me outside to meet this guy:

Our cowboy snowman!!
Signing off as three four cowboys and a mommy!
