Happy six years to my little cowboy Kallahan!

Wishing this silly, quick-witted, cat loving, six-year-old the happiest birthday!! We're so lucky to be your parents.
We had a great day celebrating you. We went in as a family and woke you up with a special "happy birthday serenade." You took chocolate cupcakes with red icing {your request} to school. After school, Keeler gave you a John Deere painting set and all the neighbor kids came down and helped you paint. You loved that!  While Keeler was at football practice I let you download a new calf roping game... Basically the best day ever ;)
Kallahan Troy, you are one of my greatest blessings. Six years ago you made our family complete.

Jacey, the usherette

My niece, Jacey, is growing up to be such a beautiful young lady - inside and out. Today I came down to do her hair and makeup for 8th grade promotion. She was one of two 7th grade girls that was picked by the 8th grade class to be an usherette.
Before we headed to promotion we snapped some photos of her.
Gorgeous.
Stunning.
Our grandmother always had us take photos like this...

Love you lots Jacey! So proud of you. We'll forever cherish this special day.

Weekend Whoas

This weekend we enjoyed some one-on-one time with our oldest little cowboy since little brother Kallahan is off on a graduation vacation with his grandparents. On Friday evening Keeler made the remark, "It won't feel like the weekend without Kallahan here." This statement melted my heart. So glad they're best friends.
So while Kallahan is off getting spoiled, we tried our best to keep Keeler entertained. He was disappointed he didn't get to go on vacation but he's still in school until Wednesday. He had a friend over on Saturday, ate lunch with Granny and then we had some graduation parties in the early evening.
Congrats grad! We know Shae Higgs will do great things. And you better, our boys look up to you BIG time.

In the evening Keeler & Tyler went out to the farm for chores and ended up riding horses.
Keeler woke up Sunday and asked, "Did I really ride horses yesterday or was that a good dream?!"
Best. Day. Ever.
Sunday it was raining so Tyler couldn't get in the fields as planned. Keeler and I saw this as a perk for us because we got to spend the day together. We had a fun day at home and then in the evening they decided to go ride again. This time I went out to watch...
and boy I'm glad I did.
Keeler loves horses. He started watching Heartland on Netflix and has been asking to ride for months. It's just hard for Tyler to do with both the boys.
My little cowboy
As we were headed back to the shop, we spotted a double rainbow behind us. It was gorgeous!
We finished off the evening feeding the bucket calves and going out for Chinese. Keeler decided he likes being an only child. We might of made his weekend a little too much fun ;)

Kallahan's Preschool Graduation

Kallahan is officially a preschool graduate.
Here's our handsome graduate: barefoot, with one of his cats, acting silly and ready for some root beer. Oh, Kal!
I will forever cherish the moments I got to spend with him while he was just going to preschool.
Our days were great... reading books, playing dominoes, walking and riding bikes and having him by side to run errands. This boy melts my heart.

Over the last few months he really has changed. He is ready for "big school" and is excited for his new adventure!
He was so proud walking down to the ceremony.
Kallahan is going to miss his teachers. We've been so blessed with Mrs. Winner & Mrs. Ridder. They provided him with such a great introductory experience for learning. Kallahan was excited for school everyday.
Here's a little snippet from the program.  What do you think Kals says he wants to be when he grows up?
...big shocker, right?!
My bestie, Natalie, and her little girls came to watch Kallahan. He was so excited to have them attend. Natalie and I secretly hope we get to use photos like this in these kiddo's marriage slideshow someday ;) #wishfulthinking
My baby. Man how time flies.
Kallahan surrounded by his support team. My boys are so lucky - they are so loved. My parents came up for Mother's Day weekend and stayed for the graduation. Granny and Troy also came - this means so much to my boys.
And then it was time to run home and open presents. Mimi & Jimdad couldn't make it up but they sent a great little gift of books and coloring supplies. Everyone stayed for dinner and then the Texas crowd headed back home. Kallahan decided to go down south as well. I guess since he graduated he deserved a little trip to celebrate ;)
After my parents left I went outside and decided to trim my peonies. From the recent snowstorm they bloomed but were laying on the ground so hey, why not trim them and enjoy them in the house? Just the right pick-me-up after all the emotions I am feeling after my baby graduated.
Gorgeous! Have a great week.

Friday Favorites

Happy February, folks! I'm linking up with ErikaNarci and Andrea to share my Friday Favorites.
{one} Happy Birthday to my favorite lady on the planet, my mom.
I'm so glad that we celebrated her this past weekend by throwing a friend/family party. Y'all, my mom really is the best. She's selfless, kindhearted and our families' rock. I strive daily to be a mom like her. She's "Grandma Kak" to so many kids beyond her own because that  she has beams. We love you BIG!! Happiest birthday to the BEST!

{two} While we were in Texas we got to celebrate another one of our favorite birthdays.
Happy {belated} birthday to our fav 'lil Samuel, aka Scott Hamilton!! Everyone had a blast ice skating with him. Who knew we had so many athletes in the fam bam?

{three} Keeler's favorite day of school this year was last Friday.Dress like a cowboy to celebrate Kansas Day.
How handsome is he?! He's been looking forward to this for week, Yee-haw ;)

{four} Since after the holidays, we've been focusing more on health and fitness (like every other American this time of year) and since we've been going strong for about a month I have some new favorites:
My friend, Katie and I have been doing Piyo for a month now. At first, I wasn't impressed and so confused. I'm usually a high intensity cardio girl. But once we got through the instructional workout and we kind of know what we're doing I LOVE it. It's working muscles that have never been sore and since it's not so intense I find getting up early easier. I'm actually looking forward to working out. This is new for me and so much easier on my body than running.

Protein, Protein, Protein
This Egg White Protein Powder is my new go-to afternoon snack. It's been a learning process but basically my body responds best with more protein. After the holidays I always have those 10 pesky pounds to lose. I tried doing Weigh Watchers with my mom, sis and some friends in January but I wasn't losing. I was basically maintaining and even gained a little. I'm still tracking (love that about weight watchers) but I started doing some research on macro tracking and so far, I like how I am feeling. It's really to soon to see any results but I'm going to keep it up. I'm using MyFitnessPal to track.
We've also formed a little supportive messaging group with the ladies I mentioned early and it's been so great! We share meal ideas, fitness, weekly weigh-ins and ask questions. It's been awesome, keeping me accountable and very motivating.

{five} And this is my favorite picture I snapped this week...
